RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR and

PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARDS

CAPITAL REGION MEDICAL STAFF ASSOCIATION

Awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet of the CRMSA, which will be held November 4, 2006  at the Royal Glenora Club. Please take a few moments from your hectic schedule to consider those amongst your peers who you feel merit these awards, and submit your nominations. The criteria for the awards are provided below.

PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Physician of the Year Award is presented to an outstanding front line practitioner who practices in the Capital Region or has recently retired from active practice (within the previous 2 years).  The individual must be a paid member of the CRMSA; unless retired.  Any individual may receive the award only once.

Nominations will be accepted from any individual who is a member of CRMSA.  Individuals may nominate themselves.  Nomination packages will consist of 5 copies of the following:

·        Covering letter detailing the characteristics and qualities for which this individual is nominated for CRMSA Physician of the Year.

·        Supporting letters or additional signatures on the cover letter reflecting broad support of the nominee will be considered favourable.

 RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Researcher of the Year Award is to honour excellence in research that benefits or has the potential to benefit the health of the citizens of the Capital Region.  Nominee must demonstrate, over at least the previous 5 years, exemplary achievements in research.  The research will be judged according to its quality, novelty and potential to affect health outcomes. Basic, clinical, population, health services, and epidemiological research will be considered.  Nominees who have conceived and developed innovative products or processes may also be eligible.  The individual must be a paid member of the CRMSA.  Any individual may receive the award only once.

·        Covering letter detailing research accomplishments

·        CV of the nominee – including 3 best publications

·        A supporting letter from the nominee’s Departmental Chair or Site Chief (if no academic appointment).
